Christmas Wish List

I (Chris) recently received a flyer from Central Referral Services offering toys to families in need anyone low income can get toys for Christmas - and all the agencies can let their families know about this program. So I call them and ask - do you have just regular toys - or do you have a way to give children with disabilities a toy that meets their needs? She checks and no - this is just a program for toys - regular toys for regular children. I tell her that we have several families who need a stander, or a wheelchair van much more than a toy for their child.

After much thought I realized that our families would benefit more from

  • a box of water for their bi-pap that medicaid won't cover
  • feed tube supplies that aren't covered
  • respirator equip that isn't covered
  • a respite weekend
  • a ramp into their house
  • a stander that Medicaid and insurance denied
  • even something as simple as an electric toothbrush that the family can't afford

So I offer this……Our Christmas Wish List Program - a wish list of sorts - where families that qualify (Have a child in a wheelchair) can apply and post their wish for Christmas - and we then put that out there to churches, families, agencies, dealers, vendors, etc to see what we can do? No cost involved, no promises made, - just like our loan closet - matching needs with people who have something to offer, or want to meet that need.

Interested Families can have their Service Coordinators fill out our application
